What to expect from the Apex Legends the Dark Depths event
January 10 2022
Hello there, Legends! It’s time for another Apex Legends cosmetic event. This time, we dive deep into the dark depths of Apex Legends to discover even more skins! There’s also a new Arena map called Habitat 4, which will take us to another island in the New Antillia archipelago on planet Gaea.
The Dark Depths Event will last 3 weeks with new rewards each week. A new flash event will be up as the weeks go, and each week will have unique rewards. You can complete daily event quests to earn points to unlock these rewards as usual.

Here are some of the key rewards for each week:
From January 11 to January 18
2 Apex Packs, an Epic Holospray, and a new Load Screen
From January 18 to January 25
1 Apex Pack, a new Valkyrie Epic Holospray, and 1 Dark Depths Pack which will drop a non-duplicate Dark Depths item.
From January 25 to February 1
An Epic Revenant Holospray, an Epic Alternator Skin, a new Epic Revenant Skin for all you murderbots out there.
Of course, these rewards are accompanied by character-based trackers from Dark Depths Packs, free crafting materials, badges, and additional progress for your battle pass.
They have returned
New skins and some old favorites arrive from the depths of the ice-cold waters. Ash, Fuse, Horizon, and Lifeline are getting new legendary skins, while Bangalore, Revenant, and Wraith have returning skins that will certainly cause some wallets to sweat in terror.
Ash receives the Denizen of the Deep skin, arguably one of the best Ash skins so far.

Horizon receives the Overfloater skin, which prompted her voice actress Elle Newlands to make countless tentacle puns.

Lifeline gets to show off her style with the new My Wave skin.
Lifeline is always guaranteed to bring two things to the table: her style and a pair of drumsticks. Maybe also a Mozambique. (Image: Respawn Entertainment)
And A̶u̶s̶t̶r̶a̶l̶i̶a̶n̶ ̶K̶u̶r̶t̶ ̶R̶u̶s̶s̶e̶l̶l̶ Fuse receives a new legendary skin with one of the best skin names so far in Apex Legends: Broseidon.

There we go. Broseidon in all his glory, with grenades bombs shaped like sea urchins. (Image: Respawn Entertainment)
As you’ll remember, a recent bug caused some of the unreleased skins to drop from the regular Apex packs, and Broseidon was one of them. Respawn quickly took the skins back and compensated the players for this mistake. At least we didn’t have to wait too long for his glorious arrival.
As for returning skins, Revenant and Wraith mains are going to have a field day. Bangalore also has a returning legendary skin, Dressed to Impress. However, it’s safe to assume it’s going to be overshadowed by the release of her new legendary skin, MIL-SPEC, which is a direct reference to Bangalore’s new animated short, Gridiron.
Meanwhile, Revenant’s Deathproof skin is making a comeback, much to everyone’s joy. Well, mostly Revenant mains. Others are too busy feeling terrified of the approaching murderbot regardless of what skin it uses at the time. Not even the tallest building is safe from Revenant’s buffed passive and Darin De Paul’s awesome voice.
Wraith, Interdimensional Skirmisher, Creator of the Portals, Leader of Pick Rates, Queen of the Fragment West, Receiver of Skins… receives one of the most popular of her skins as this event’s returning skin. Protector of the Void is one of Wraith’s most beloved and original skins, going with the medieval/Viking theme. Wraith mains and their never-ending quest to collect all of her skins, a timeless classic.
New Arena Map!
Apex Legends is determined to make the Arena mode work, and we receive another new Arena map with the Dark Depths event. The new map is called Habitat 4 and is placed on another island of the New Antillia archipelago. Since it’s on the same planet as Storm Point, you can expect to see a similar environment, coupled with giant skulls of Leviathans who used to gather around this—well—habitat.
IMC researchers observed the Leviathans who seemed to flock to this island to breed and established an ethology base to study their behavior. IMC is now long gone, but the Leviathans are still around.
Spending some time in nature will surely help… if you can survive, that is. (Image: Respawn Entertainment)
Having a large waterfall, Habitat 4’s terrain is eroded throughout the years and now has a lot of trenches and elevated spots where you can do all sorts of mobility shenanigans.
The two most important points in Habitat 4 are the Cave and the Nest. The Nest, as the name implies, contains the Leviathan eggs. These eggs are very sturdy, and while we really shouldn’t traumatize the baby Leviathans within, they will work as a cover for the time being. The Cave, on the other hand, allows you to have your back to a wall for a more secure position. This, of course, also comes with the disadvantage of being cornered under intense fire. The waterfall allows you to get out rather quickly, so when you want to use the Cave to your advantage, make sure you’re ready to ditch Plan A to switch to Plan B if things go south.
The Dark Depths Event is one of the traditional “themed” events of Apex Legends with mostly cosmetic items, a new Arena map, and no mention of a balance patch for now. It adds amazing new skins to the game and allows us to get some of the older skins we missed.
One important note about this event is, just like the previous event, the fact that the cosmetics are here to stay. While the themed Apex Packs are limited to the duration of the event, the skins and other cosmetics will be added to the pool of regular Apex Packs. You can also craft these skins from the moment the event begins until forever. The crafting cost of these items may be lowered after two seasons, as Respawn announced.
See you on the hunting grounds, Legends.
